Easter Bunny.

This poor wee chap was put on the back burner while I was doing orders, but he is finally done, and before Easter too!

He was snapped up pretty quick and will be off to his new home soon. :)

He has his little Easter egg, daffodil and he carries his always-needed carrot in a pouch on his back so it is always nearby! He doesn't go anywhere without it.

Have been working on another order for someone and that one is finished too, but I can't show it yet until the new owner sees it as she wanted it to be a surprise! But I can say that it is a Christmas themed bear, which was interesting to make in February. :) But I had a lot of fun with him! In fact, it was hard to know when to stop, but I have a squillion ideas for next Christmas at least. :)

More custom orders.

I do love making things for people, it makes me happy! But when it comes to something new I worry if the customer will like it or not, or if it will be like they had seen it in their head when they asked for it.

So far I have been lucky. But I am sure one of these days I will totally miss the mark and someone will hate it!

This is what I did recently:

A purple pirate dragon for a little girl.

Then there was a penguin. This one was fun to make! :) I'd never thought of making a penguin before and now I am not sure why! I will certainly be making more.

And then I was asked to make a dog, and oh my I felt way out of my comfort zone! This tiny little doggy took me what seemed like forever, but it was only really 3-4 days. As you may have seen by now, I don't make many things that are meant to look "realistic" but this one was and it was a huge challenge. It still seems to have a bit of my "cute and cartoony" look going on, but I tried so hard to keep it as realistic as possible. There were many times along the way that I thought it was going too badly to share and that the customer would hate it. But I showed her and she liked it, thankfully! As I said, I have been very lucky so far. :)

Then last but not least, I made a little pistachio flavour Ice Cream Bear as a companion to a cupcake bear I made a while back.

I also have sold a lot of my old bears and have some on hold for another friend, so I am very grateful and happy to see things getting lovely new homes finally. :)

The only problem now is I have run out of orders and not really sure what to do with myself! I do have half started projects I should continue on, but I haven't really seemed to want to today for some reason.

Custom orders.

I had been busy this past week wrapping things that sold in my sale and working on 2 custom orders.

The first order was for a bear similar to one I had made a long time ago, but I had all sorts of ideas while I was making him and emailed to suggest an Easter theme. Well, this is how it turned out. :)

And second was for a pirate dragon similar to one I had sewn a few years ago. (Couldn't even find the original, but I do have it somewhere!)

Both customers were happy, thankfully. :)

I have started on a new dragon for someone else, and have all sorts of ideas for other things, but need to be careful with my shoulder too. I feel it a bit sore while I'm typing this. Anyone have a spare arm I can borrow?!

Also, I sold my darling bath bear... He's only been gone a few days but I miss him already, he was my favourite. But he's in a lovely new home with a lovely fellow crafter!

Blueberry Cupcake Bear.

On Thursday night I started a give away on my Facebook page, the winner was then to choose between an owl and a cupcake bear. She choose a cupcake bear which she wanted blue as her daughters name is Blu, and she wanted him to have a blueberry on his head. I finished him this morning and sent her a photo, she loves him so I'll post him tomorrow. He'll soon be on his adventure trip to America! He is excited. :)

I'll be working on commissions for the next few days, it is nice to be busy, but I hope my shoulder doesn't get too sore!

Owl Bookmark.

This one was sort of an experiment. It took a while to get it finished because I wasn't too happy with it for a while, it wasn't turning out like I had hoped, but I gave it another chance and here it is. :)

I first wet felted a couple of layers of wool so I would have something to needle felted onto, then I needled on colour and the details. After that I decided to embroider bits to make them stand out more. But then of course I had thread showing on the back so I had to add some fabric. I tried to sew round it with my machine but it wouldn't fit under the pressed foot! I kept trying, squished it under and then the machine freaked out and wouldn't sew it so I ended up doing it by hand... Hence the wonky stitching. :) I am not happy with the ribbon, it's really wonky.

I think I'll give this one to my mum, because she doesn't care about wonky bits. <3

Little Drawstring Bag.

Nothing fancy at all, but fun to make!

I bought some more fabric yesterday and have received some of it today, it is so pretty I'm quite scared to cut it up to make something though, so don't expect anything too soon. ;)

Also today I bought an exercise bike, which is exciting! I am so unfit it makes me want to cry, but this will help. :) I have been on a diet now for 3 weeks or so and it is helping a little bit, but now with the bike too I should reach my goals.

I loved making the first one so much that I made another! :) The mobile phone photos didn't turn out great and this one is the best of them.

I'll need to hit the charity shops soon and look for more buttons, these could be very addictive indeed. :)

Oh and talking of buttons, I took all my little ones out of my button box recently to see which would look best for the owls, but I wanted something separate to keep them in so they wouldn't all be jumbled with the bigger ones, so I made a little drawstring bag on the sewing machine. I didn't get a photo in the daylight hours though so I'll do that tomorrow. It's nothing fancy, but it will do for now! I am learning all the time, so it's all good. :)

I was looking for pretty fabric on eBay but there's so much choice I couldn't decide which to get! I have a few bookmarked for later though.

Anyway, here's the little owl, enjoy!

Not a bear!

I have been feeling like I needed a new path for a little while now. Although I love making the bears I have felt it might be best to try other things now and then too.

I have seen owls everywhere lately and had a little go at my own. It was lots of fun to make and I will certainly make more!

This little chap has been needle felted as usual, with merino wool and has big (for him) button eyes and embroidered details. I have no more buttons like these, but I have a few in similar sizes.

What do you think? :)

Strawberry Icecream Bear.

I am so happy with how this new design turned out! I think he's very cute. I started off making another cupcake bear, but somewhere along the way I had this new idea. (Might be because I'm on a diet... Sweet stuff on the brain!)

He's a strawberry icecream bear, complete with flake and sprinkles!

He took longer than my cupcake bears to make, because I shaded his icecream cone and added coloured threads for his sprinkles, so this one is £10. I can send a Paypal invoice if you'd like him, or I can make a new one just for you, let me know! :)

This little cutey is my latest bear. He's smaller than my usual bears at just slightly over 2 inches. I can make them to order and they will be just £6 each. :)

He's a Cupcake bear with a little strawberry on his head, and hearts on his icing!

And here is my first effort at making something on my sewing machine. Just a phone case, nothing fancy and the stitching is a bit wonky, but I am quite proud of it! :)

Hello friends!

It feels like forever since I've made a bear with arms and legs, my Snowbears and Pudding Bears didn't have any! I seem to stab myself more with them than with heads and bodies...

Anyway, I have a little Valentines Bear to share with you today. He comes with his little bouquet of roses, a big (big to him, that is) heart, and a box of chocolates! I hope you like him. :) My camera didn't like all the red and the usually blue "sky" paper in the background is a strange colour as a result!

New Zealand Bears!

Well, the little Pudding Bear and Snowbear finally made it to New Zealand and their lovely new owner likes them, so I am very happy! I had been worried that they were lost or damaged.

They took about 15 days, and must have had lots of adventures along the way!

I'm working on a couple of new bears at the moment, for Valentines Day. :)

Travelling bears.

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a nice festive time so far!

No snow here yet, unlike last year where everyone was complaining that we had too much of it!

I am very happy today. Not only did I sell a Pudding Bear, but he is going to be travelling all the way to New Zealand! And after emailing the buyer, I found out that she wanted to buy a Snowbear too, they have been posted and are on their way for lots of adventures!

That means I have sold 4 things this year, which I am very happy with. I have learned that I need to be more prepared though, for the Christmas period... I left things a bit late this year.

Haven't been on my new sewing machine all that much so far, have been too busy watching movies with my parents and getting things wrapped up for posting. But in the New Year I hope to use it a lot and learn how to make things.

A few days ago my mum gave me a leaflet for Lidl. They were going to be selling sewing machines on the 15th of December and it looked like it had lots of fancy things, so I decided to go for it as it was a good price!

I have never had a sewing machine before, and never used one before either.

I got it this morning and after a long and stressful time of trying to get it threaded I had my first go on it... With bad results. My lines were wonky, my fabric (an old pillowcase) puckered and my thread jammed! But I am learning, and it has been fun so far.

I've not started the adventure of buying fabric yet, but I am looking forward to learning more and finally making some little things. I have lots of ideas, just need the skill now!

If anyone has any advice, please feel free! Links and tutorials are great too. :)

I went out with my parents yesterday, to a place called Crail to see the Open Gardens. It was far too warm and I got pretty bad sunburnt and nearly had sun/heatstroke. Still had a lovely time though. :)

I'm still working on the needle felted painting, and 3 little bears. One of the bears is very nearly ready for her close-up, maybe later or tomorrow. :)

Not a good photo, but the best of a bad bunch. It was really hard to get a good clear photo of the felted picture!

Not nearly finished, still have a lot to do to it, and oh man, her hands... I'm not good at drawing hands at the best of times and felting them on is worse! :)

She is basically a remake of this painting I started (and didn't finish, as usual) years ago:

So far I prefer the painting, but it's certainly been interesting trying to recreate her with wool. :) And if it's no good for selling when it's done, at least it will give me something to put up on my wall when I move house in December.

Next is a bear I made a while ago but forgot to upload!

He's an explorer, but he loves to find mushrooms. He takes his journal everywhere with him so he can write down which kind he found. And of course, he always takes a nice sandwich with him.

I'm a bit silly. I have been (slowly) working on 3 bears, but rather than finish them, I started on a needle felted painting yesterday... my first. I'm quite enjoying it, but it might not turn out as I hope. We shall see!

The weather is a bit dreary today so not the best light for taking photos, I'll try and take one tomorrow to show you how it's going.

The weather has been so nice lately, but we're having lots of thunder, lightning and rain today. Our garden looks like it has a river running through it!

It looks pretty cool actually, but maybe only because I'm inside where it's nice and warm and safe. :)

BBQs and Castles.

I've had a lovely few days with my parents. We had a BBQ in the garden. And then the next day we went to Elcho Castle, which didn't have a whole lot in it but it had lots of windey stone stairs inside and my mum and I got lost a few times while my dad raced ahead. Lots of fun, it was a great day... although a bit too warm for my liking.

I took lots of photos, there's a few of them below. :)

In nearly every country in the world, Coca Cola is the fizzy drink of choice... but in Scotland, we prefer Irn Bru!

I love this one. He has a little felt sponge, bar of soap and rubber ducky both made of polymer clay. He can be removed from the bath and the bubbles too. I added little beads here and there to make the bubbles sparkle.

...Just not posting much. My sewn dragon/dino pattern is still giving me troubles, just yesterday I had to decapitate one little dragon. But I'm still felting. Rather slow to get things finished as usual though!

Anyway, here is a little bear I made. Sorry for the bad photos, it's snowing here again in Scotland and so the light isn't very good.

He's not quite done, some more felting here and there and some accessories are needed I think. I'll have another one to show tomorrow. :) Bye for now!

Sorry for not posting in a while, I haven't had much to show. I did make this little one though and I can show him now that his new owner has seen him.

He was made for a good friend of mine for Christmas. A Super Dragon for a Super Friend! :D

I didn't get many good photos of him before he got posted to his new home, and this one was the best of a bad bunch.

P.S. He's really a Dino but he thinks his cape counts as wings and so he thinks that makes him a dragon... who am I to disagree?!

So, I've been slacking on the crafting lately. I'm running out of core wool for my felting, so I've been trying to do other things but it just doesn't seem to be working out.

I've been trying to improve my "dragon" sewing patterns, but to be quite honest with you, I have no clue how to do it. :P I can't seem to grasp how patterns are supposed to fit together properly and even when I think it looks like it'll work... the seams come out all wonky. I then get frustrated as it takes me ages to do anything at all and by the time it's done my shoulder is usually aching (Should really see the doctor about that soon) and the "dragon" looks worse than ever. Bah. I'll stick at it, but it takes a long time and I'm usually too embarrassed to show the ones that didn't work out.

When I have a little bit of money together I'd like to try jewellery making too. Have been seeing so many inspiring things lately!

But for now... back to the old drawing board to try and fix the dragon pattern.

Got my hair cut yesterday. It doesn't look too bad but it sure feels strange! I had it longish for quite a long time and the back of my neck is now feeling the cold without it there. LOL.

My mum cut it for me and she did quite a good job considering she's had no training and the only person she has to practice on is my nearly-bald dad. ;)

My plan for today: Done a little felting but more later, going to do a little photo editing (still trying to make the picture for that Spoonflower competition in a few weeks), need to crochet a little bit today or it's never going to get finished, should really find some time to re-do the website... but it takes so much time. Bah, "maybe tomorrow."

Purple Dragon and some paintings.

Meant to post these yesterday, but completely forgot!

This little dragon is made from a mix of purple and pink merino wool, and she's been needle felted. Her wings and ears were wet felted, but I think I'm doing it wrong! I'm not very keen on her wings, she'll probably end up with different ones. She has wire and bead accents.

The below paintings were done with acrylic. I'm currently messing around with them in Photoshop trying to turn them into a nice fabric design for Spoonflower, then, when I'm happy with them I'm going to enter them in the weekly competition that's coming up in a couple of weeks. (Theme is "Woodland Creatures".)

New needle felted Dino.

I've given myself far too much to do: I still need to get the new graphics put on my website, have a barely-started-on blanket I've been crocheting, (So far it would be great for a mouse!) have some accessories to finish for the dino I'm going to post here after this rant, need to work on new wings for a dragon I'll show tomorrow, have a witch/warlock (she/he isn't sure what they want to be yet) in parts that needs worked on, have another dino/dragon (they don't decide what they want to be till the last second) started but not yet finished, have yet another needle felted "thing" started that doesn't really look like anything at the moment... and there's many many more things needing finished too. I seem to get bored and start a new one and rarely finish anything! :P Fun stuff, but I'm fast running out of core wool. LOL.

I have done some acrylic paintings today (just small ones) but have missed the daylight, so have no photos of those yet. I'm planning to use them on Spoonflower and see what they look like printed. :)

Anyway, here's my latest little dino, he'll have some accessories to go with him when I get round to finishing them!

The beading took ages, but despite my patience problems I actually enjoyed it!

Saw one of these for the first time ever while we were on holiday in the Kyle of Lochalsh/Skye area earlier this year. He's needle felted from merino and based on one of the photos I took of him. Gave him to my dad for his birthday. :)

Made this one for a friends birthday. He's made of blue merino wool, and a red tongue. I realise the ears are somewhat strange, but when I was looking at him one day after thinking he was done, I really thought he needed some! I think they suit him, and he seems to like them.

Made this one for a Christmas present for a friend, along with some others, but I didn't get them all done in time so I ended up keeping them all.

He's made of upholstery velvet in a pale gold colour. Made him a little eye patch and hat from Ultrasuede and he has a little feather in his hat too. His eyes are blue glass mini bear eyes. And the lopsided Pirate Flag is Ultrasuede and red ribbon.

This one is red upholstery velvet with a white tummy, purple "goggles" (long story) and Ultrasuede wings and feet. His little badger friend was made with grey longer haired mini bear fabric and white velvet.

The above is one of the ones that didn't get finished. :(

And a bear head who never got a body. I had intended to embroider a snowflake or something on his little cap, but never got round to it.

Had a lovely day with my parents and a friend today, we went back to the beautiful town of Culross for a meal in our favourite place:

Food was good as usual and we didn't even get rained on! :)

So, back to crafty things. Have 2 separate things to show this time, one from Christmas last year, and one a little more recent. They were going to be props for when I was photographing other things I've made, but the background I was planning to make too never happened, so they didn't get used... yet!

This little tree is the most recent of the 2 and it's made of felt for the trunk which has been sewn by hand and then needle felted details were added later. The green part which represent the "leaves" is made of some mohair fabric that's usually used for bear making. (Not the best photos to be honest.)

For this one I used upholstery velvet for the green part, and felt for the base. Then I sewed some glittery stuff round it in the place of tinsel.

Nothing too exciting for today, but there's proper (finished!) things to come soon. Quite tired, so going to watch telly for a bit.

At the end of August I received my first swatch from Spoonflower

I didn't really have much idea what I was doing (still don't, actually) but I managed something simple, since I can't paint proper digital paintings anymore as my graphics tablet has died. Hoping to get a new one soon though.

It turned out quite well, though the background turned out paler than I thought. I'm pretty sure I have been using the wrong dpi and such as well. But, you learn, eh? :) It's been fun so far! I currently have a vampire picture in the competition, and I'll continue to make some new ones when I have time. I think it's such a great idea though, but I do wish there was one in the UK as well.

And look at these pretties that my lovely mother got for me. :)

Going to make her something nice, when I can figure out what! Though I also have my website to re-do, with the new banner I've put on here. Sunday I think!

Right, I'm off to do some sketches. More tomorrow!

Right then, this little guy is old and he never got finished. He wasn't sure if he wanted to be a bear or a mouse and his ears became very wonky.

He was hand sewn and was made with some sort of miniature bear making fabric, though I usually use upholstery velvet. I shaded round his eyes with... not sure actually, it was a while ago. :) I think 3+ years ago! But I'm posting him now and hopefully in the future I'll see some progress that I've made along the way. His nose and inner ears were Ultrasuede and his eyes were black glass. Brown thread nose. :)

Hope you like him! As ever, any tips/comments/advice is good. Is there a spell checker on this thing? :O

...Well, sort of. I have had blogs before, but I stuggle to keep at it. I'm shy and often don't know what to say, but it's mostly because I worry about being boring.

However! I've never had a crafting blog before, so this should be better and easier for all, so here goes. :)

My plan is to write here and show photos of things I'm working on, as and when I have things to show. I have a few things already, but I'll do the smart thing and show them one at a time, that way if I run out of steam soon, at least I'll have spun what I do have to show over a few days. ;)

I'll tell you a little about myself as well while I'm here:

My name is Sharon. I am currently 27, and I live in Scotland. For as long as I remember I always enjoyed drawing and such, and loved to try and make things out of old cardboard boxes and whatever else I could find and/or get my hands on. But I wasn't very good at it. I have many problems with patience. If something is taking too long, or isn't going the way I planned... I usually give up. I know it's silly, if you stick at something you get better at it! But... well, what can I say. I've just always been that way.

These days though, I'm not quite so fast to call it quits. If I enjoy something, I will stick at it! My latest thing is Needle Felting. I am still quite new to it, and have made some hilliriously hideous things with it! But I really enjoy it, and with a bit of luck I managed to make a few things that I don't laugh or cringe at every time I look at them. :P These (amongst others I hope) will be some of the things I will be showing here.

I don't want to make this too long, so I'll leave it there for now. But if you have any coments or suggestions or anything, please let me know. :)

I'll post something pretty and/or cute tomorrow!
